The Bow Rockers are an old time Appalachian style string band,
located in the southeastern Pennsylvania area. The band's
members have all had many years experience playing old time music
and a certain band member's (we won't say whose) musical history
dates to 1954.
While the band's musical center of gravity is their extensive repertoire of Appalachian old time music, their various interests have taken them into the areas of blues, Irish, classical and rock. The band regularly plays for square and contra dances, working with the many square dance callers in the area. Band members all travel regularly to old time music festivals, fiddler's conventions and contests, including the Appalachian String Band Festival held yearly in Clifftop, West Virginia. Some of the band's members have studied with well known master fiddlers, including the late Tommy Jarrell of Toast, North Carolina and the late Luther Davis of Galax, Virginia. | |
