David Mallett

"Hurray!" I heard someone say, "David Mallett is coming to Ithaca." And then she added, "It's about time."

"Discovered" by Noel Paul Stookey, in the mid-70's, David Mallett has been performing around the world ever since. His songs have traveled even further than he has, and one of his works, Garden Song, has even reached folk anthem status. It has been performed, at last count, by over 150 artists, notoriously by Arlo Guthrie and even by the Muppets.

The state of Maine must produce more talented folksingers per capita than any other state, and David Mallett is as a versatile a musician and masterful a wordsmith as any. After years on the road and ten albums to his credit, David Mallett is still engaging, entertaining, and consistent. A David Mallett song can be recognized as one that paints a portrait, tells a story, and speaks to the heart of the American soul, helping it keep in touch with the past.

Surprisingly, David Mallett has been absent from the Ithaca stage in over a decade, but on February 6, the Cornell Folk Song Club is going to rectify the situation. Please join us.
