With a sure and steady guitar and a clear, soaring voice, Ellis takes audiences on a wonderful journey through the emotional, the political, and the hysterical. Her songwriting rises to every occasion and has earned her a Finalist award at Telluride.

Winner of the "Most Wanted Emerging Artist" at Falcon Ridge Folk Festival in 2005, with a repeat "Most Wanted to Return" in 2006, she has brought her tour mates and audiences to tears with her fearless songs. The National Independent Songwriter Magazine asserts, "With a voice as strong as thunder and a message as powerful as a surge of lightning, Ellis pours out her heart and soul into every single word."

Ellis' music has been called vibrant, unpretentious modern folk that shows a trace of country (from her first 16 years in Texas) and a touch of rock (from her first band and her own recording label in Minneapolis). Although that band won Sam Goody/Musicland's "Best Unsigned Band in America," Ellis chose her own road rather than a major label deal.

Since 2000, she has toured full time and has independently sold more than 30,000 copies of her five CDs. She was a headliner at the National Womens Music Festival in 2006 and has released on her label the CD Amaze Me: Songs in the Key of Peace, featuring female songwriters from across the country, with proceeds benefiting the peace movement.

Ellis is a bold voice for change and doesn't shy away from controversial topics, but she does it with great empathy for her fellow human beings. She knows how to laugh as well, and she does, freely. Her performance is a joy because she enjoys herself so thoroughly. After you have cried with her about a loss, felt strong with her about her convictions, she will let you in on a funny story with a conspiratorial wink, and share her hilarious ode to coffee.

Tickets are available at Ludgate Farm Market, Ithaca Guitar Works, Greenstar Co-op, Small World Music, Bound for Glory, and, if any are left, at the door. You may also order tickets online and by mail: SASE to CFSC, PO Box 481, Ithaca, NY 14851.
