Lou and Peter Berryman in Concert
The Cornell Folk Song Society welcomes the overdue return of master entertainers Lou & Peter Berryman. Known as Folkdom's favorite funny folks, Peter and Lou have a strong local following, even if they may not have sung a real folk song in their act during their whole career. Not simply a comic novelty act, however, Lou & Peter tackle the complexities of modern life from the weirdest, funniest, and often most insightful perspective you will like hear anywhere. Adjectives pile up to describe them in a litany worthy of one of their own songs: quirky, wry, ironic, idiosyncratic, wickedly skewed, silly, sophisticated, off-kilter, uniquely funny, highly literate, warm, right-on, and magical. If that is not enough, you should come just to see Lou play a giant accordion on a stick. Lou and Peter Berryman grew up in the same town in Wisconsin and have played music together since high school. Their professional career didn't take off until after their short marriage ended in divorce, or as they say, "Resolved into a lifelong friendship." Beginning with local gigs in Wisconsin clubs in the late seventies, over the last thirty years, they have crissed and crossed throughout North America. Their songs have traveled even more widely. As folk song society regulars can attest, Berryman songs have been covered by a stellar roster of musicians. They live on in infamy. So please join us to hear the duo that Christine Lavin has called, "The funniest thing on four legs." Tickets are available at Ludgate Farm Market, Ithaca Guitar Works, Greenstar Co-op, Small World Music, Bound for Glory, and, if any are left, at the door. You may also order tickets online and by mail: SASE to CFSC, PO Box 481, Ithaca, NY 14851. For information about the concert, contact
