Greg Greenway

Greg Greenway is everywhere you turn: Mountain Stage, Car Talk, World Cafe, All Things Considered, CNN's World Beat feature about socially conscious artists, and in live concerts from coffeehouses to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

This contemporary songwriter, Virginia-born but now from Cape Cod, gracefully and solidly merges the wistful intimacy of folk-pop and the progressive balladry of Phil Ochs and Woody Guthrie. Smooth and melodic of guitar and voice, he's an uncannily effective political singer. He is both entertaining and soulful, and draws broadly from gospel, jazz, rock, blues, and world music, as well as folk.

On top of a full touring schedule, he has managed to make six well-received recordings. "He has learned Guthrie's most vital lesson: that hope is a more powerful and renewable resource than rage. Confessional one moment, rambunctiously disarming the next, few modern folk singers can own a stage as completely as Greenway," says The Boston Globe.

The Cornell Folk Song Society has been trying for awhile to find dates when Greg Greenway is available. Please give this engaging performer an Ithaca welcome.

Tickets are available at Ludgate Farm Market, Ithaca Guitar Works, Greenstar Co-op, Small World Music, Bound for Glory, and, if any are left, at the door. You may also order tickets online and by mail: SASE to CFSC, PO Box 481, Ithaca, NY 14851.
